01 - INTRODUCTION
When choosing books to read, I often find myself leaning towards philosophical memoirs and stories, as
well as fictional sci-fi novels that tend to raise introspective and philosophical questions about who
we are or what we are meant to be. One of the most memorable books that I read nearing the end of one
particular summer was an international Japanese book translated into English by Alison Watts, titled
What you are looking for is in the library by Michiko Aoyama.
This project was an exploration into the psychology of book cover design, and how the application of
rhetorical tropes onto a visual medium enhances and strengthens the effectiveness of a book cover
layout. The final design incorporates and applies numerous visual rhetorical tropes into a book cover
design and Augmented Reality experience.
